From the academics and electives, our students and staff, to our sports and after-school fun, we are a school of great might. Not every school has what we have. Not everyschool provides the opportunity/enviroment to thrive.

Enrichment

West Valley Middle School offers a variety of enrichment opportunities which include our afterschool sports program, competitive dance team, dance classes, science bowl team, and extended day program.  We provide these opportunities to enhance student’s growth through social and recreational activities.

Athletics Program

Students at West Valley Middle School enjoy a sport program which includes Flag Football, Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball and Cheer.  All students who want to join the team can with our “no cuts” philosophy.  We participate in local sports leagues as well as our own leagues throughout the year giving every student an opportunity to experience being on a team. Go Wildcats!

Winter Girls Basketball

  • 2 - 3 practices a week after PE, beginning in December
  • Season extends to mid-March
  • Home games will be played at the Campbell Community Center.

  • Home games will be played at the Campbell Community Center.

NOTE: Uniforms for the above fall and winter sports require a fee of $50 (check only) made out to West Valley Middle School.

Spring Baseball

Westside Fearless Baseball League (Developmental League)

  • In person registration day for 2011 Spring Baseball Season is January, 29th.

    • $100-$125 for non-ADPP students
    • $75-$100 for current ADPP students

Flag Football
Practice Days: Monday-Thursday
Time: 3:15-4:30pm
Games are usually played at WVMS 1-2 days per week throughout the season.

Volleyball
Practice Days: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday
Time: 3:15-4:30
Games are usually played at the Campbell Community Center 1-2 days per week throughout the season.

Cheer
Practice Days: Fridays 3-4pm
Cheering for games happens 1-2 games per month

Basketball

Science Bowl Team

Students who want to challenge themselves academically are encouraged to participate on our Science Bowl Team.  These students will practice two days a week to prepare for the Science Bowl competition at NASA Ames Research Center in the spring.

Dance Program

We offer progressive classes in ballet, jazz, and tap.  We have selected the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts as a location to showcase our dancers.  With our competitive dance team, Dance Cats, we also perform in local holiday parades, Action Day Primary Plus events, Santana Row events, dance conventions and competitions, and a variety of professional dance shows.

Extended Day Program

The purpose of our extended day program is to continue the enhancement of your child’s growth through social and recreational activities. Extended day is also the extension of the academic day through study halls and organized lesson plans.  We also offer a summer program for grades 5-8, which includes age-appropriate fieldtrips, activities, and special assemblies centered around weekly themes.
